Session One: The Case for Petrochemicals in Appalachia – Aug. 19, 2 p.m. EDT
Speakers: Martha Moore, American Chemistry Council and Abby Foster, Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council
This webinar provides a federal and state perspective on the development of petrochemicals in the Appalachian region and the policy and potential challenges to development. We will also discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the need for the development of products derived from petrochemicals, the national security interest in developing multiple petrochemical production geographic areas and opportunities to support development.
Session Two: Marcellus Utica Shale Gas Gathering and Processing System – Sept. 2, 2 p.m. EDT
Speaker: Greg Floerke, MPLX
This presentation will provide a high-level overview of the scope and scale of natural gas drilling and development in the Marcellus and Utica shale producing regions of western PA, northern WV, and southeast OH over the past ten years, with emphasis on development of the infrastructure required to process and transport gas and liquids production from these areas. MPLX/MarkWest Energy facilities, which process the majority of the rich gas and natural gas liquids from this basin, will be the primary focus of the presentation.
Session Three: Shell Project Update – Sept. 16, 2 p.m. EDT
Speaker: Michael Marr, External Relations Advisor, Shell
Noted by Governor Tom Wolf as the largest private sector investment in Pennsylvania’s economy since World War II, Shell Pennsylvania Chemicals has literally changed the skyline in Beaver County. The site remains under construction with plans to transition the site into an operational status at some unspecified point in the early 2020s. Michael Marr will provide a project overview and current update of the construction status during his presentation.
