The EMLF Law Student Scholarships Through the Annual Scholarship Program, the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation provides educational assistance to encourage the study of energy, environmental, natural resources, and mineral law. Last year, twenty-two thousand ($22,000) dollars in Scholarships were awarded for the 2005-2006 academic year to law students studying energy, environmental, natural resource, and mineral law at schools holding membership in the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation. The Energy & Mineral Law Foundation was established in 1980 to provide a forum for the intellectually honest examination of the legal issues related to the development and use of natural resources. The Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization, funded primarily through membership dues and revenues from educational programs open to the general public. Funding for the Scholarship Program is made available from Membership Dues, the EMLF Endowment Fund, the Bowles Scholarship Fund, and the newly established James H. Davis, III Scholarship Fund. Law Schools may join the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation at any time for a $100 annual membership fee. If your school is not included in the listing on this poster, ask your law school administration to inquire about membership benefits, including immediate eligibility for student scholarship participation and faculty assistance for participation in the Biennial Natural Resources Law Teachers Special Institute.
Applications should include two letters of recommendation with at least one from a law school dean, faculty member, or member of the legal profession. All applications are to be submitted directly to the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation.
