Room Reservation Deadline Is May 6 at Omni Amelia Island Plantation.  Be sure you contact Omni’s Amelia Island Plantation in the next few days so you can take advantage of reduced rates for the 36th Annual Institute, June 21–23.  After May 6, the EMLF room block will be released to the general public and rooms will be priced at the prevailing rate.

You can link to reservations from the Annual Institute page on the EMLF website at emlf.org, or go to the hotel website to make your reservations:

You can save $100 by registering for the Annual Institute through May 11.  Go to www.emlf.org and choose the link from the home page.  The Annual Institute opens with a welcome reception beginning at 5:30 on Sunday, June 21, followed by dinner for all registrants, speakers, and registered guests starting at 6:30 p.m.  The program contains 12-15 hours of CLE credit depending on your particular state, including 1 hour of legal ethics.  General session topics on the first day include cyber security, the use of drones, the Endangered Species Act, cooperative federalism, EPA’s proposed Waters of the U.S., and water availability and use issues.  On Day 2, Tuesday, there are 3 parallel tracks – coal, labor and employment, and two separate oil and gas tracks.  Meeting rooms are side by side so you can easily move from one presentation to another.  The program ends at 4:45 on Tuesday, June 23.  Amelia Island is easily reached via Jacksonville airport.

Annual Institute Sponsor Opportunities

Several sponsor opportunities for the Annual Institute are still available, and can be reviewed online.  Sponsors subsidize the cost of the social functions at the Annual Institute and make registration fees more affordable.  We appreciate the support we have already received  from Crowell & Moring, Sean Cassidy & Associates, Spilman, Thomas & Battle, and Steptoe & Johnson.  The deadline for purchasing sponsorships is May 12, to ensure inclusion in the printed program booklet. All materials need to be delivered to the EMLF by May 15.

The Membership Committee, co-chaired by Frank Harrington at Alpha Natural Resources and Joe Tarantelli at Chesapeake Energy Corp., has been very successful in recruiting new members.  Please help us welcome these new members to the EMLF:
