You may download the application, print it out, complete it and send it, along with your supporting documentation (either via mail or by fax) or download the application onto your computer, complete the application as a Word document and email it as an attachment to email@example.com, either also including your supporting documentation as attachments or sending them via mail or fax.
Through the Annual Scholarship Program, the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation provides educational assistance to encourage the study of energy, environmental, natural resources, and mineral law.
Scholarships will be awarded for the 2018-2019 academic year to law students studying energy, environmental, natural resource, and mineral law at schools holding membership in the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation.
The Energy & Mineral Law Foundation was established in 1980 to provide a forum for the intellectually honest examination of the legal issues related to the development and use of natural resources. The Energy & Mineral Law Foundation is a non-proﬁt 501(c)(3) educational organization, funded primarily through membership dues and revenues from educational programs. Scholarships are funded through membership dues and earnings from special memorial scholarships.
Law Schools may join the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation at any time for a $100 annual membership fee. If your school is not included in the listing here, ask your law school administration to inquire about membership benefits, including immediate eligibility for student scholarship participation.
Eligibility. Law school students for the current academic year are eligible to receive scholarships.
Field of Study. Law students must demonstrate an interest in the study of natural resources, energy or mineral law.
Law Schools. The scholarship can only be used in connection with a degree program sponsored by a law school which is a Member of the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation.
Amount of Scholarships. Scholarship awards generally ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 will be awarded to defray academic expenses.
Criteria for Selection. The following criteria will be used to determine the recipients of the scholarships:
(a) potential to make a significant contribution in the field of energy, mineral and natural resources law;
(b) academic ability;
(c) leadership ability; and
(d) financial need.
Applications should include two letters of recommendation with at least one from a law school dean, faculty member, or member of the legal profession. If sending material by email, please put your name in the subject line so that the supporting material can be linked to your application.
All applications are to be submitted directly to the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation. Deadline for applications is in May 1, 2018.
