EMLF News – September 24, 2009

Early-Bird Registration Deadline Tomorrow

The discounted registration fee for the 34th Kentucky Mineral Law Conference ends at midnight on Friday, September 25. You can save $50 on each registration if you register online, fax your registration form with credit card number to 859.226.0485, or mail to EMLF postmarked on September 25.

Approximately 200 people are already registered for the October 28-30 program. To accommodate expected attendance, the program begins at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon with the Oil & Gas Track. General sessions and ethics will be all day on Thursday, followed by a reception from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with music by The Corduroy Road. On Friday morning there are concurrent tracks on Coal Law and Climate Change Mitigation, with the program ending at noon.

Sponsors for the Thursday night reception include Babst Calland Clements and Zomnir, Crowell & Moring, Dinsmore & Shohl, Huddleston Bolen, International Coal Group, Jackson Kelly, The John T. Additional sponsors are welcome at the $500, $750 and $1000 level.

EMLF Welcomes New Members

We're pleased to welcome several new members. XTO Energy Inc., headquartered in Fort Worth, TX, has joined the Foundation, with Warren J. Ludlow, Vice President and Associate General Counsel as the main contact. Triana Energy, LLC, Charleston, WV has joined the Foundation, with Jim Jarrell, Vice President and General Counsel as the primary contact. Topic Solicitation for 2010 Annual Institute

The EMLF Annual Institute will be May 9-11, 2010 at Amelia Island Plantation, Amelia Island, Florida.

We invite you to submit topic proposals on any aspect of energy and mineral law to emlf@aol.com by October 30, providing a brief description and any proposed speakers. The program chair is Sharon O. Flanery, Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC, Charleston, WV; Coal Chair is Frank Harrington, Alpha Natural Resources, Abingdon, VA; and the Oil & Gas Chair is Natalie Jefferis, EQT Midstream, Pittsburgh, PA. We welcome all proposals for consideration, including but not limited to coal, natural gas, water law, climate change, renewable energy, electric power, real property, and ethics.
