Arrangements for Richard and Karen Ward
Arrangements have now been finalized for the visitation and funeral for Richard and Karen Ward of Lexington, KY, who died as a result of injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident in Tennessee on August 4, as they were returning home from vacation. Visitation will be Thursday August 13, 2009, 3 to 8 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Lexington. The funeral will be Friday August 14, 2009, 11 AM, also at Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Lexington Cemetary. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church or to Georgetown College.
A third-generation Kentucky lawyer who began his law practice in Hazard, KY, with the law firm of Reeves, Barret & Cooper, Dick was well-known throughout the mineral industry as an exceptional coal lawyer. A partner in the Lexington office of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, Dick was active in the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation, and served as its president in 1997-98. Dick received the EMLF President's Award for his many contributions to the mineral bar and industry, including the teaching of the first Energy Law course at the University of Kentucky College of Law.
Dick and Karen will be sadly missed by their many friends and colleagues. Please keep the Ward family in your thoughts and prayers.
